He Is The Grandson Of A Notorious Hangman

San Jeronimo, Costa Rica

It's going to take me 20 years to learn Spanish. It's a good way to knock down my ego daily. Starting to understand a lot more though...

60 emails to respond to. (Slams head against keyboard). I thought I was a poker player? When the hell did I have to start doing paperwork?

Check out an interview with one of my favorite underground emcees: http://boomboxknocks.com/artist-spotlight-lord-lhus/

Oh my god, I just had a five minute conversation with my girlfriend's aunt in Spanish, and somehow it wasn't about food. Yo hablo Espanol!

Just did an interview, and then talked with @JACKDOGWELCH. Great life coach if anyone is looking for one. It's 4:00 PM and I haven't eaten.

Ate some peanut butter and banana sammiches. Going Casterboarding into the sleepy town here because doing my taxes is stressing me.

Listening to Snowgoons' Remix album Black Luger and doing my taxes. Oh the excitement.

Getting steadily more tilted as I go through my bank statements, seeing how many credit card roulettes I lost this year.

My job is a felony in my home state. Yet the government takes my taxes. Don't tell me gambling's immoral and then pay yourself from my check.

Congratulations to both of you. Seriously, two of the nicest people in the poker world. Wish I could've seen the HU @Annette_15@TheTmay

I have no idea how the hell I'm awake at 7:00 AM. I only slept six hours. Normally I'm a baby who wants 8 or 9.

I was studying Spanish to begin the morning, and changing my biographies since "I wander around the world..." seems kind of dated. I thought it might be interesting to post my Spanish notes. It doesn't cost me any calories, and it's a way to have them saved in another place. Maybe you guys could learn something from my awful translation, or just laugh at what I'm learning.

I had a lot of fun coming second in that tournament. Of course, losing heads-up sucked, but for how out of it I felt I think I played really well. It was weird, I just couldn't focus. It was how I felt when I used to withdraw from amps, but there was no reason. Maybe it was because I woke up so early in the day and chugged a bunch of caffeine. Still I was very happy with my performance. I think I generally took every spot I could find, and I find a lot these days. I landed a lot of big bluffs, which really makes you feel like you deserve the money more. Anyone can win when they're are just given the cards. It takes real thought to take pot after pot away from people.

Ugh, my blog is so self-serving. It's weird. The poker world is a tough place now. I'd argue the average salary of a professional player is lower than 40k, and everyone should shut the fuck up about what ballas they are, because 95% of us aren't. Strangely, while I believe that, I also am arrogant. I need to believe I am a great player and great things always happen to me. I need to believe my writing and contributions to the poker world is worth something, otherwise I see no point in doing it. This irks me however. I hate arrogant people. My arrogance is the reason I fell on my ass a year ago! Yet the second I stop acting like I'm working to make a real dent in everything I do...I lose motivation.

"It's repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. & once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen." -Muhammad Ali

"With ignorance and arrogance, success is assured." -Mark Twain

In the Krakuer book I'm reading about Pat Tillman there's a journal entry from him, detailing why

To maintain greatness you need to balance humility and arrogance. Constantly. That's life, brother: even when you reach your dreams paradox will still hound you.
